Case Study: Opeongo Forestry Services
Opeongo Forestry Services in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada, and is a specialty lumber producer. Approximately 2 million board feet of lumber are dried annually in two dry kilns. These kilns use a combination of dehumidification by heat pumps and air heating by biomass. The fuel for the wood fired-boiler is waste wood resulting from processing timber and lumber and would otherwise have to be disposed of at a rate of $17 per ton.
